Dr. Lynne Zager
  Dr. Lynne Zager

Lynne D. Zager, Ph.D. is currently serving as the Executive Director of West TN Forensic Services (WTFS). She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Tennessee-Knoxville in June 1976. She completed her Master of Science and Doctoral work at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, FL (M.S. 1978; Ph.D. 1981). Her Pre-Doctoral Internship was completed at the University of Tennessee-Memphis Clinical Psychology Internship Consortium with funding through the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Memphis TN. Although a year of Post-Doctoral supervision was not required at that time, she elected to complete a year of Post-Doctoral supervision under the direction of John Hutson, Ph.D. (9/83-8/84). Specialty areas throughout her training included Forensic Psychology, Personality Assessment, Abnormal Psychology, and Neuropsychology.

After graduating from FSU, Dr. Zager joined the faculty at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC) as an Assistant Professor (8/81-8/83). Her major responsibilities included teaching upper level undergraduate and graduate courses, including Psychopathology, Personality Assessment, and Theories of Personality. She also offered her clinical services on a pro bono basis at Joe Johnson Mental Health Center throughout her tenure at UTC.

In 1983, Dr. Zager joined the staff at Midtown Mental Health Center (MMHC) in Memphis, TN. She originally served as the Forensic Coordinator/Director (9/83-3/88) and later as the Clinical Director of the Center (3/88-8/98). Throughout her tenure at MMHC, Dr. Zager has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor and later promoted to Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Tennessee-Memphis in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Zager has trained psychology interns, post-doctoral psychology trainees and psychiatry residents mainly in the area of Forensic Psychology/Psychiatry, but has also been available to train and supervise students in other community mental health programs. She has been involved in the training of new professionals in their efforts to establish credentials for licensure in TN. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, TN Psychological Association, and a Fellow in the Society for Personality Assessment.

In September 2008 MMHC's Board of Directors made the decision to close the Center. David Zager, J.D., MBA created the WTFS agency as a private, not for profit organization charted in 2007. Dr. Zager negotiated a contract between WTFS and the TN Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS). WTFS began providing Forensic Evaluation Services to Shelby County September 18, 2008.

On a personal note, Dr. Zager has been married for twenty-six years. The couple have five children ranging in age from 19 to 36. She enjoys traveling, swimming and reading in her "spare time."
